ABOHNS
The American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) is pleased to announce the opening of the Application Portal for the Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology (CPO) subspecialty examination. Below are instructions to complete the online application.
Important 2026 Dates
May 4: CPO Exam applications due
Mid-July: Upon receipt of the exam authorization letter, candidates must schedule a seat with a Pearson VUE test center location
October 1: Pearson VUE exam site selection deadline
October 8: Exam Day at Pearson VUE test center
Accessing the ABOHNS CPO Application Portal
- Click on ‘Physician Log-in,” and enter your login credentials. If you need help obtaining your password, please use the “Lost Password” feature on the login page or contact Marisa Zarate at mmz@abohns.org.
- On the Physician Dashboard, click the dropdown arrow under “Manage Your Certification.” Under “Subcertification and Focused Practice Designation Tasks,” select “Apply for CPO Exam” and follow the instructions for completing the application.
Fees and Deadlines
Payment of a $3,125 non-refundable application and exam fee is required at the time of application. Applications received or completed after May 4 will incur a $1,875 late fee.
Applications received or completed after May 8 will not be accepted and the candidate will need to apply for a subsequent CPO Exam.
Special Accommodations
The ABOHNS fully supports and is compliant with the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA). Upon request, ABOHNS will make reasonable accommodations in its examination procedures for candidates with documented disabilities. An applicant who meets the definition outlined in the ADA can review detailed information regarding the ABOHNS accommodation policy (Disabilities Policy Statement). All ADA requests must be received at the time of application.
